Services Completed:

Documentary, True Crime

The Task: Gymnastics is often celebrated for its grace, skill, and precision, a darker reality has emerged in recent years. Athletes have bravely spoken out about the widespread culture of abuse within the sport. Motivated to expose this long-standing issue, investigative journalists from CTV's W5 and TSN embarked on a mission to uncover and bring to light the unchecked abuse that has plagued the Canadian gymnastics world for decades.

The Approach:

Over the course of several years, our team embarked on a nationwide journey, speaking with Canadian gymnasts determined to shatter the silence surrounding a culture of abuse. We offered these athletes and their families a supportive environment to courageously share their experiences. Filming the entire documentary amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, navigating multiple lockdowns and restrictions, added another layer of complexity to our storytelling process. Through a careful weaving of narratives, we highlighted the historical patterns of abuse that have persisted over time and continue to impact individuals to this day.

Results and Reaction: The documentary is now streaming on CRAVE, reaching audiences across the country. Its powerful impact has sparked significant systemic changes within the industry. This documentary has been recognized with esteemed honors, such as the RTDNA Award for "Excellence in Sports Reporting" and a Canadian Screen Award for "Best Documentary."
